How to Watch the GTA 6 Extended Look Free
You don't need Netflix to watch GTA 6's Extended Look. Here are the exact times, every platform it airs on, and how to avoid the fake streams.
Rockstar is premiering Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix first, which has understandably confused people into thinking they need a subscription. You don’t.

- 12:00 p.m. PT — Thursday, August 27

Free release — 9 p.m. ET, August 27:
- 6:00 p.m. PT — Thursday, August 27

If you’re in the UK, Europe or India, the free release lands overnight or early morning. Sleeping through it costs you nothing — it stays up permanently on YouTube.
Where to actually watch
Only two official destinations for the free release:
- The Rockstar Games YouTube channel — the verified one, not a fan channel with a similar name
- rockstargames.com/VI — the official Grand Theft Auto VI site
What to avoid
An announcement with a fixed public timestamp is a magnet for scams. Between now and August 27, expect:
- Channels “live streaming” the Extended Look early. Nobody has it early. These are loops of the old trailers with a countdown overlay, monetised off your view.
- Sites asking you to sign up, verify, or install something to watch. The real thing is a free YouTube video that requires nothing.
- “Leaked Extended Look” uploads before the 27th. Rockstar controls this release; there is no early build circulating.
The reliable test: if it isn’t on Rockstar’s verified YouTube channel or the official site, and it’s before the times above, it isn’t the Extended Look.
What to expect from it
Rockstar hasn’t said whether the Extended Look contains gameplay — the name suggests something longer and more detailed than the two cinematic trailers, but that’s inference, not confirmation. We wrote up what the announcement actually confirms here.
