Every major GTA 6 leak sorted by what Rockstar confirmed and what stays rumor — the 2022 footage leak, map datamines and more.

GTA 6 has been one of the most leaked games in recent memory. Sorting real information from recycled rumor is most of the work — here’s what’s actually confirmed versus what’s still floating around unverified.

Confirmed by Rockstar or official channels

  • Setting: Leonida, a fictionalized Florida, centered on Vice City. Confirmed by Trailer 1 and Trailer 2.
  • Protagonists: Lucia and Jason, the series’ first dual leading pair and first female protagonist. Confirmed in both trailers and official materials.
  • Release date: November 19, 2026, on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Confirmed via Rockstar Newswire after two delays.
  • Price and editions: Standard ($79.99) and Ultimate ($99.99), plus the Vintage Vice City Pack pre-order bonus. Confirmed on the Rockstar Store and platform storefronts.

The 2022 footage leak — what actually happened

In September 2022, over 90 clips of early development footage were posted to a GTA forum after an intrusion into Rockstar’s internal systems. The footage showed early-build gameplay, dialogue, and UI elements. Rockstar confirmed the leak was genuine but noted it was unfinished, early-stage material — meaning specifics like textures, animations, and even some mechanics shown were not representative of the final game. This remains the largest confirmed leak in the game’s development, but its content is now years out of date.

Datamined map fragments — real, but incomplete

Various datamine efforts (pulled from game assets, marketing site code, and companion materials) have surfaced partial map geometry consistent with a Florida-shaped peninsula containing multiple counties around a central Vice City. These fragments broadly agree with each other and with what trailers show, which is why fan-made reconstructed maps have converged on a similar shape. However, Rockstar has not published an official full map, so specific county names, exact borders, and total explorable area remain unconfirmed extrapolation, not fact.

Casting-call and voice-actor leaks

Casting notices and voice-actor social media activity have been used to guess at supporting characters and factions before official reveals. These have a mixed track record — some guesses aligned with later official reveals, others didn’t pan out. Treat casting leaks as directional hints, not confirmation, until Rockstar’s own materials name a character.

How to evaluate a new “leak” yourself

  1. Does it trace to a real source? A datamined file, a Rockstar statement, or a frame from an official trailer is verifiable. A screenshot with no origin is not.
  2. Is it actually new? A large share of “breaking GTA 6 leak” content recycles the 2022 leak or old rumors with a new thumbnail.
  3. Does Rockstar’s silence mean it’s false? Not necessarily — but until confirmed, it stays a rumor, not a fact, no matter how plausible.

We update this page as new material surfaces and gets checked against these standards.
