GTA 6: Everything Confirmed Before August 27

A complete rundown of what Rockstar has actually confirmed about GTA 6 — dates, price, platforms, cast and setting — before the Extended Look airs.

The Extended Look airs August 27, and it will be followed by a wave of “everything we learned” coverage that blurs what Rockstar showed with what people guessed. Here’s the clean baseline before that happens — only what has been confirmed, and by whom.

Dates

DateWhat
August 27, 2026Extended Look — Netflix 3 p.m. ET, YouTube and official site 9 p.m. ET
November 12, 2026Digital preload opens; physical copies ship
November 19, 2026Launch

The November 19 date survived two delays and was reaffirmed by Take-Two on an earnings call. Pre-orders have been live since June 25, which is the strongest signal a date is real — publishers don’t take money against dates they expect to move.

Platforms

Confirmed: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Not announced: PC, Switch 2, PS4, Xbox One. Rockstar has said nothing about a PC version. Its history — GTA V and RDR2 both arrived on PC roughly a year after consoles — suggests one eventually follows, but that’s a pattern, not a promise.

Price and editions

  • Standard Edition — $79.99
  • Ultimate Edition — $99.99
  • Vintage Vice City Pack — pre-order bonus for anyone buying before November 20, 2026

The physical edition is a download code in a box, with no disc. That changes the usual physical-versus-digital maths — we broke that down in physical vs digital.

Setting and characters

Leonida, a fictionalised Florida, centred on Vice City. Confirmed across both trailers and Rockstar’s own materials.

Lucia and Jason are the dual protagonists — the first dual-lead pairing in a mainline GTA and the series’ first female protagonist. Trailer 1 opens on Lucia, apparently incarcerated.

Beyond that, the story is genuinely unknown. No named antagonist has been confirmed. The Bonnie-and-Clyde reading is the consensus interpretation, not an official description — more on that in story theories.

What’s still unconfirmed

Worth holding in mind on August 27, because these are the gaps the Extended Look could close:

  • Gameplay, HUD and mission structure — no official footage has shown any of it
  • How protagonist switching works
  • Online mode — pre-order materials describe a single-player experience; no online component has been detailed
  • Map size — no official figure exists; every number circulating is fan extrapolation
  • Install size — unannounced, though precedent points to 150–200GB
  • PC — nothing

What has not happened, despite what you’ll read

  • No Trailer 3 has been released. The Extended Look is not branded as one.
  • No official map has been published.
  • No collector’s edition has been announced.
  • No mobile version exists, and there is no “mod APK” — those pages are scams.
  • No gameplay has leaked from the current build. The 2022 leak was early-development footage and is years out of date.

The rule for August 27

When the Extended Look lands, coverage will move fast and the confirmed/speculated line will blur within hours. The test that holds up:

Did Rockstar show it, or did someone infer it? A frame from the video is evidence. A conclusion drawn from a frame is a theory — sometimes a good one, still a theory.

We’ll cover what it actually shows, on that basis.
